Things you may not know about a toast oven

by Editor 09 Oct 2022 0 Comments

A lot of people buy an oven, but they don't understand some of the tricks of the oven. As a result, there is no way for them to get a perfect bake. For example: what is the function of preheating, what needs to be done when baking often fails, how to set the temperature without independent temperature control, whether the oven door can be opened when the oven is working, how to clean and deodorize. I will share with you some things to keep in mind when using the oven.

  1. Preheating for 5-10 minutes can increase the success rate of baking

Be sure to preheat the oven before you use it. Preheating has two major benefits: First, preheating can sterilize and remove odor. The oven will breed bacteria and odors after a long period of non-use. Preheating can effectively solve this problem and protect your health. Second, preheating can improve the success rate of baking. If the oven does not reach the required temperature without preheating, the heating tube will fully heat the food, which will cause uneven heating of the food, loss of moisture, easy scorching, and failure of baking.

  2. Temperature calibration is required when baking fails frequently

If you set the time and temperature according to a recipe and keep failing to bake, such as cookies that don't crisp, bread that doesn't rise, or cakes that don't cook properly, there's a good chance the oven temperature is not accurate.

First, you need to buy an oven-specific thermometer, place it in the middle of the baking tray, then place the baking tray in the middle of the oven, set the temperature to start the oven and compare the two temperatures after the temperature is stable. For example, the oven temperature is set to 150 degrees, and the actual measured temperature is 180 degrees, indicating that the actual temperature of the oven is about 30 degrees higher than the label. Then when baking, just adjust the temperature according to the temperature in the recipe minus about 30 degrees.

  3. Temperature setting tips without independent temperature control

Many recipes call for different temperature settings for the upper and lower tubes, but if your oven doesn't have separate temperature settings, you can take the average temperature. For example, in the middle layer of the oven, the upper tube is 180 degrees and the lower tube is 200 degrees. At this time, you can set the upper and lower tubes to heat at 190 degrees, and place the baking tray on the lower layer.

  4. The oven door can be opened for a while

Many people think that the oven door cannot be opened while the oven is working, or that it must be powered off to open it. In fact, there is no safety hazard in opening the oven door while the oven is working, you just need to be careful not to burn yourself. But opening the oven door can cause temperature changes that can cause the bake to fail, so don't leave the oven door open for too long.

If you notice that your food is not heating evenly, you can open the oven door, take the pan out and put it back in a different direction, or switch the food in the tray. In addition, you can open the door to add condiments while grilling

  5. Two ways to clean and deodorize

After oven use, it is very important to clean in time to prevent odor, bacteria breeding, and other sanitary problems. I'm going to show you a few ways to clean your oven.

①Dry roasting with white vinegar water

Put a bowl of lemon water or 1:1 white vinegar water, open the container, and dry roast at about 100℃ for 10 minutes. The odor will be removed.

  ②clean with oranges

Rinse the oranges and cut the peel off with a knife, with some pulp on the peel. Place the orange peel with the pulp in the preheated oven and bake at 170 degrees for 5-8 minutes.
